Stanley Cup Champions Florida Panthers chose XNRGY when it mattered for their Dehumidification requirements
CHALLENGE

Maintaining optimal ice conditions and spectator comfort at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, is a gamechanger. This vast arena, hosting over 1.2 million visitors annually, presents unique challenges. With a capacity of over 19,000 for hockey and a constantly changing roster of events, the occupancy load fluctuates dramatically. This creates a dynamic environment where humidity levels and air conditioning needs are constantly in flux. Standard cooling-based dehumidification units simply do not have the ability to overcome both the infiltration and spectator humidity loads. The arena needed a solution that could dehumidify a massive volume of ventilation air while maintaining tight tolerances under extreme circumstances.

SOLUTION

Our team of expert engineers rose to the challenge. Through close collaboration with the arena staff, we designed and delivered custom Desiccant Air-Handling Units (DAHU’s) that were perfectly sized for the limited mechanical room space, yet powerful enough to handle the arena’s demanding dehumidification needs. We delivered results, even under the most extreme circumstances in the National Hockey League (NHL)

Our strategic equipment sizing ensured the DAHUs delivered exactly the required air volume and conditions throughout the vast arena, accommodating fluctuating crowds and events. This meant peak performance without sacrificing efficiency – a win for both budget and the environment.

Knock Down Construction Advantage
We utilized an innovative Knock-Down (KD) construction method for these high-capacity units. This made logistics and installation a breeze, minimizing disruption to the arena’s busy schedule – all while maintaining the structural integrity and performance needed to handle peak ventilation loads (a whopping 13,100 lbs per hour!) plus the internal bowl humidity load due to infiltration and spectators (an additional 3,900 lbs per hour) which represents a total dehumidification load of over 17,000 lbs (2040 gallons) per hour.
